Tiling

Slating

Slates are usually more time consuming to fix than tiles to a roof because every individual slate has to be aligned and fixed into place with two nails; there are no nibs on the back to locate them on the wooden battens. Leadwork and Flashing

When any part of a roof meets a vertical surface or abutment as with an extension, roof window or a dividing wall between two terraced properties, the joint between the vertical surface and the roof covering needs to be sealed against leaks. Lead is usually used for this and when lead is worked and installed in this way it is called Lead Flashing.

Over time, especially with wooden boards, your fascia and soffit will need to be replaced. Usually we suggest to do this at the same as you’re having your guttering replaced, the last thing we want to do is attach a new guttering system to an old fascia board that may be rotten or need replacing a long time before your guttering does.
